The Rivers State Government invites applications from suitably qualified and passionate individuals for recruitment as teachers in public primary and secondary schools across the state.

This recruitment exercise aims to strengthen the Basic and Secondary Education sectors by engaging committed professionals who will deliver quality teaching and foster academic excellence in Rivers State schools.

Available Positions

  • Primary School Teachers — All subject areas (minimum qualification: Nigeria Certificate in Education – NCE)
  • Secondary School Teachers — All subject areas

(Note: The recruitment targets approximately 5,000 teachers overall, with a significant portion for primary/basic schools and the remainder for secondary/post-primary institutions.)

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed) or a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant teaching subject plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). For Primary School Teachers, the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) is acceptable as the minimum qualification.
  • Hold a valid Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) Certificate.
  • Have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme or possess a valid NYSC Exemption Certificate.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Be computer literate.
