The University of Florida is offering an exciting, fully funded PhD graduate assistantship in quantitative fisheries, supervised by Dr Edward Camp. This position is open to both international and domestic students and forms part of an interdisciplinary project exploring changing socioecological systems in marine fisheries.
About the Project: This PhD opportunity focuses on quantitative fisheries research within a broader interdisciplinary initiative. The project integrates biological, ecological, socioeconomic, and model-based approaches to understand the impacts of shifting fish populations and fishing communities on fisheries management.
You will work as part of a cohort of 3–4 students examining related aspects of socioecological change from multiple perspectives. The role involves developing socioecological models to evaluate the consequences of changes in fish stocks and fishers on management strategies.
Successful candidates will collaborate closely with fisheries managers and fishing communities, gaining valuable experience in fisheries governance and stakeholder engagement.
